boys at home

I thought this was really profound. Somehow it resonates with me, even though I'm doing a bit better than the guys mentioned in the article.

I was talking to a friend on Monday night, and we both expressed that we didn't feel like we knew what we wanted to do.

I feel like if there was something I knew I should do, I would do it. But I don't know what that is.

Getting married, however, is a good way to guarantee that you won't be living with your parents anymore. :-)

lol! yeah. Weird life isn't it?

I think our generation of men is a bit depressed or something. No direction, how can that not be depressing? My female teacher keeps blasting the class about how we should take initiative, stand-up, be proactive, be heard, choose how we perceive ourselves, etc. etc... but I think it might be more intimidating than anything else. I wonder if our culture is going from a transition from being masculine to feminine or something? Btw, you have to read the wiki stub to understand that it is not directly related to gender. Or maybe it is a shift towards a collectivist culture vs. individualistic. MySpace certainly is a collectivist movement.

I think it is because our upbrining is currently oriented towards female interests. Lots of peaceful orderliness. Not enough adventure and violence. We are constantly taught how to maintain the status quo and not have deep seated convictions, which might upset others.

But yeah, I agree with the suckiness of it all. I feel bad that I didn't 'get it' in Torrey or in KI like other guys seem to have. Although, I do have some kind of overarching plan that I am interested in. Just nothing huge, such as saving the West, or starting some kind of movement, etc.

The solution? The Gentleman's Fight Club.
