Recently, a few of us in our department had a lively discussion about diversity in Christian Higher Education and the state of our institution. We were an ethnically diverse group having this discussion, White, African-American, Latino, and Asian American.
And, yet, I suspect there was nary a disagreement.
I couldn't help wincing.. I guess I lose. The really sad thing is that I only had to skim part of it to wince. That's pretty sad. My question, are we so anti-diverse at Biola as far as ethnicity goes? Seriously, if we aren't against it then why bother saying we aren't for it? I thought diversity was the norm.
No, we're not anti-diverse at Biola. It's a matter of emphasis. Biola's historical focus is to emphasize Biblical education to impact culture. These people seem to want diversity as an end-in-itself.
